Innovative technology built for modern needs

The E-Cross / Slim Line, developed in partnership with leading European Courier, Express, and Parcel (CEP) customers, is a fully electric crossbelt sorter that incorporates EAE’s latest technological advancements. These include advanced sorter controls and 3D-camera technology, ensuring precision, reliability, and adaptability.

Designed to meet the specific operational needs of An Post, the system is equipped to handle a wide variety of parcel sizes and processing requirements. It includes 14 roller chutes, carefully engineered to securely collect large and fragile parcels. Additionally, the system features 60 direct drop chutes, which enable zero-touch sorting for smaller parcels, ensuring both gentle handling and maximum efficiency. To further enhance accuracy and reliability, the system incorporates three automated parcel detection units powered by advanced 3D-camera technology, enabling seamless and precise sorting operations.

In addition to its versatility, the E-Cross / Slim Line is engineered to optimise energy efficiency, minimise waste, and maintain high throughput, making it a sustainable and dependable solution for the demands of modern logistics.

Since its implementation in December 2024, the E-Cross / Slim Line has significantly enhanced An Post’s sorting capacity and operational efficiency. Eoin Sweeney, Engineering Project Manager at An Post, highlights its impact: “What we received in this project was not just the machine itself but a complete system tailored to the challenges we faced. EAE Solutions quickly adapted to our specific needs and demonstrated a high degree of flexibility and professionalism.”

The system’s throughput of 7,500 parcels per hour allows An Post to handle all parcel types, from small and lightweight items to large, complex packages, with unparalleled precision. Advanced 3D vision technology for Non-Conveyable Detection (NCD) enables seamless processing of oversized parcels, further enhancing An Post’s ability to meet diverse customer needs. Reflecting on this improvement, Eoin Sweeney noted: “With this project, we’ve been able to drastically increase both the efficiency and capacity of our parcel processing in Portlaoise. It enabled us to process over 60% more parcels compared to the previous Christmas period in the same site.”

A key feature of the E-Cross / Slim Line is the Intelligent Dynamic Discharge (IDD), which uses real-time 3D data to calculate the optimal discharge position for each parcel. This ensures precise placement into chutes, reducing damage to fragile items and increasing chute capacity by up to 40%. Additionally, the system integrates EAE Flow.Control, which provides actionable insights through advanced analytics and real-time reporting, streamlining operations and improving decision-making.
